My sister is in the paper YET AGAIN, but this time with some super fruity awesome news. She signed to South Carolina State to play volleyball...........ON A FULL SCHOLARSHIP! How cool is that?! Man, if my college had been paid for I would've been swag surfing all the way to the bank. Any other scholarships she gets will be money in her pocket. Who's happy and proud? I am. Who's probably more proud and happier? My parents. No money out of their pockets. I guess things just got better and better as the kids got older. I lost my LIFE scholarship, my middle sister kept hers, now my younger sister gets the LIFE Scholarship AND a full ride. Gets no bettttaaaa. Check out the article here

My line of jewelry/accessories is shaping up! I'm so inspired by all the designers doing big things right now - just a little frustrated. When you have great ideas and a vision, you want it to happen ASAP. But the truth is, the process takes time. It's very frustrating because it seems like it's all moving so slow. Slowly, but surely. It's also a challenge because I'm a one woman show. I'm my own web designer, jewelry designer, photographer, buyer and accountant. Plus I have a full-time gig. Difficult takes a day, impossible takes (a couple of) week(s). The pic above shows two of my fav rings I've done so far. The Disco Inferno and Space Age rings. I'm sure you've seen 3 finger rings before, but I'm really trying to do something different. Just a couple facts about the line I'll share:

-My mind is all over the place, there will be all kinds of ~~crazy~~ unique accessories available for those bold enough to wear them. You'll see a mix of swarovski, cz, mirror, natural crystals & pearls, ammunition, chains, studs, legos, etc. I'm so down to Mars..
-I was inspired to start this a while ago, but the day it clicked I was in the mall and in less than 2 hours I recieved 4 compliments/inquiries on a pair of earrings I created. If people like it, they'll buy it....right? lol
-The accessories will all be named after songs, movies, quotes and/or events. I always say I can narrate my life through song titles/lyrics - I can do the same w/ my line :-). There will also be a lot of humor - that's just my personality. Ask any of my friends...I'm a wild and crazy kid.
-I'll probably (if time allows) add new items pretty often. I'm only limited by my imagination
-Some pieces are limited b/c some materials are rare and/or difficult to obtain (i.e. that rock on my finger like a tumor)

Anyway, I'm pretty geeked up about launching this in 2010 (no exact date set yet). Times like this I wish I lived in New York or L.A *sigh. I hope people enjoy and I hope people are ready. Hell, my mama likes it.

I don't know where this fetish came from. I'm not even a hat person [I love to see guys in fitteds though :-)], but I've found myself wanting to buy a couple - And I mean a couple literally. I know I'm not going to wear hats often, so no need to buy several. I bought the classic Yankees hat the other day (shout out to Jay), but I want one more. These 2 have caught my eye. So cute! Fitteds with a girly touch - right up my alley! Decisions, decisions.

I've been looking for my perfect skin care regimen for awhile now, but could never find anything that worked for my oily skin. Since my skin is so oily, I'm prone to breakouts when my hormone levels get silly. I'm also a slave to clean and clear oil absorbing sheets - which is extra annoying. My sister introduced me to this Bath & Body Works Oat oil-control face moisturizer and it's absolutely wonderful! That combined with AcneFree has made my skin damn near perfect. The downer - it's discontinued. Thank goodness for ebay. I'm stocking up. LOL

Not only that, I was hanging w/ my mom and she's a fan of Fashion Fair (I never go to their counter; to me it seems as antiquated as Blackplanet) so we went by their beauty counter. I saw this Shine Eliminator they had and decided to give it a try. Wow - I don't even need the absorbing oil sheets anymore. I've found my perfect combination!!

**Sephora has an Oil-Control Mattifier w/ SPF 15 by Murad, but it's $40. Can we say overpriced? Unless my Fashion Fair fails me, I won't be trying that one out. Expensive isn't always better. Plus, my melanin serves partly as natural SPF :-P

For Halloween, I decided to go as Lady Gaga. Initially I was going for the traditional Gaga look:

But thought twice of it. I knew it would be a popular costume this year, so I decided to do something a little different (and crazy) - Best New Artist VMAs Lady Gaga:

Went to the store, bought some red lace, and got to work. Mind you, I'm no seamstress, but with enough determination and patience, you can do anything you set your mind to.

....and voila! About 20 hrs later (on and off of course) my creation had come to life. When I finally finished I was SO PROUD of myself :-)

What I think is most amazing is that I found a way to have no skin exposed under the lace (sans arms), while still creating the illusion. Nude colored bodysuits don't really work for ppl with brown skin so I had to get creative. This project was a SUCCESS!!

TRYING TO STAY BUSY

It seems like I go through phases where my life gets pretty quiet. It's these times where I try to keep myself occupied and entertained to prevent being extremely bored and/or overly nostalgic. This weekend I skipped on the fabric stores, but went vintage shopping. The only thing about vintage/thrift shopping is that it requires patience and you really have to be in the mood to do it. Although I didn't find all that I'd hoped to, I scored a couple things:

Some awesome sunglasses and a fly 80's mesh dress. I'm such a cool kid. LOL! While walking from store to store I ran across a makeup boutique and of course I had to check it out. They had some brands I wasn't familiar with and ended up buying some powder/pigment from this brand called FACEatelier. It's a Canadian based company and I have to say the quality of this makeup is superb! I did a short vid talking about it that i'll probably post later. I also found the MAC Night Violet lipstick that has been sold out EVERYWHERE. Hand claps for me.
Sundays are always my lay around a be a bum day. Let me go continue being that bum.

Pink Opal

I saw how someone incorporated this into a lipstick and I was sold. I'm already a big fan of pigments, my only issue is the price. Although you get 7.5g, $19 is a bit steep. They last forever that's why I've decided to only buy colors in pigments from MAC that I can use for pretty much everything. This is one of them. I'm actually wearing it as a highlighter under my brow today. Awesome.

Wow. Now this is bright. I've always been a big fan of color so for me this is creme de la creme. I'll probably tone it down a bit with other colors if need be, but this is probably the brightest pink I've seen. Oh, I will be wearing it this fall. Go hard or go home. :-)

Rebel
This was a last minute pick for me. My main reason for going to the MAC store was actually to purchase a purple lipstick which they didn't have in stock. Ok, on to the next one! I tried on a very dark color (Cyber) and although it was purple, it reminded me more of black. Not exactly what I was looking for. For some reason Rebel stood out to me and I tried it on. Although it wasn't purple, it had potential lol. Since I'm a firm believer of making something out of nothing, I figured I'd pick it up and work with it. I'm glad I did (post comin later on that :-P)

This was an impulse by b/c I am a sucker for shiny things. The dazzleglasses sparkle like nobodys business and they look extra fly over lipstick/lipglasses. Next dazzleglass purchase - baby sparks.

I made the conscious decision to tone up and stay in shape this fall/winter. This is usually the time most people slack off and get comfortable, not to mention the countless holidays that involve tons and tons of food. I'm not trying to be one of the many with the cliche 'lose weight' New Years Resolution. I've been doing P90x for about a week now and OMG. I have not been this sore/tired in a looong time. You know from the first day the exercises are working b/c you can FEEL it. Unlike most people I'm not putting up before and after pics, but I will track any changes in my measurements. Although it's painful, I'm actually looking forward to completing the first month just to see the progress. Yay!

Fun, fun! My first time wearing "Tina Knowles Red" lipstick (that's what I call it, but it's actually 'M.A.C Red', haha). I've always been a little intimidated by bold red lipstick b/c if you don't wear the right shade you end up looking crazy IMO. Luckily, I found a perfect shade for my complexion and fell in LOVE w/ it. I think i'll be wearing it more often :-).BTW - I made my leggings. Modeled after Rodarte leather leggings ($920.00):

If you didn't know, I am a huge American Apparel fan. Recently they started selling Bag-O-Scraps. Hey, why not make money off leftovers. Usually I would roll my eyes at a company doing this, but they have some of my fav patterns so I had to buy. I consider myself pretty original and unique so I figured I could make something out of whatever I got. So far....

I've created a necklace and a crop top. Now fall is not the ideal time to sport a crop top, but I can always throw it over something. The necklace I LOVE. It's a braided hot pink necklace. When I say hot pink, I mean BRIGHT.

EYEBROW THREADING

I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for a couple months now and I have to agree with the critics that it's the best form of removing unwanted hairs around the brow area. I'm doing this post b/c I had mine done this past weekend and I almost forgot how PAINFUL it actually is. Now I am an exception to the rule (or so I believe). I have very thick eyebrows and my hair follicles are thick. So for me this means its more hair to remove and in addition to that, the hair is tougher to remove. Lose/lose for me. Yet, the results are amazing! I wish I had before pics but I'll post the after. If you've never had it done before I highly recommend it. It lasts forever aka approx a month.

For one reason or another I am now totally obsessed w/ unique leggings. Recently I've developed a thing for bodysuits (blame Beyonce, but i will be wearing pants) and leggings. The 2008 volleyball season ended in tears for Blake Banner after she and her Beaufort High School teammates were upset in the first round of the Class 4-A state playoffs. But the senior hitter is all smiles again this year, as she's led the defending Region 8-AAAA champions to a 2-1 record. After earning all-region honors last year and entering her fourth season on varsity, Banner knows the 2009 campaign won't be easy as opponents will make plans to thwart her experience and strong hitting ability. What Eagles coach Jeni Whitman called "first-game jitters" against Ashley Ridge seemed to spill over into Beaufort High's opening game against a much-improved Dolphin squad. Battery Creek, which graduated just one senior from a year ago, jumped out to a 5-1 lead behind kills from Taylor Wilson and Shavonne Dorsey and the Eagles' three unforced errors.

But Beaufort High (2-0) responded, as Blake Banner tallied three of her 20 kills and two of her 12 aces to spark a 14-6 run and help secure the first game for the Eagles.

The second game began much like the first, with the Dolphins (1-1) riding two aces from Ciara Lelie to build another 5-1 lead. And just like the first game, Banner led the Eagles back.

Battery Creek used another dose resilience in the third game to turn a nine-point hole into a 22-19 deficit. But the rally stalled behind serve-receive troubles and three consecutive points from Dickson, Mindy Morris and Jenny Sanborn, before Banner hit the match-winning kill.

"That last game was so close and we really had to crank it up a notch," Banner said. "You want every match to be competitive, but once we get against Battery Creek, it's just different because that's our rival. We did what we had to do and it feels good to get that win." (Read whole story here)

Naked Man Hijacks Bus Carrying Students

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- An angry, naked man commandeered a school bus full of teenage students Thursday in Atlanta, police said. The man drove the bus for less than a mile before a student confronted him and the bus crashed into a wall off the road, according to police. The incident started Thursday afternoon when the bus stopped to let students out, said Atlanta police officer James Polite. Arris Pitmon, 23, darted toward the bus and hoisted himself in through an open window, Polite said. Pitmon took control of the bus as the frightened driver ran to the back of it, the officer said. While the bus was moving, the man abandoned the steering wheel and walked toward the back of the bus, Polite added. A student then ran toward the steering wheel, prompting the man to fight the student. The unmanned bus continued until it left the roadway and crashed.Students fled the bus, many using the back door emergency exit, and onlookers subdued the man until police arrived. After recently returning to Facebook, I became reacquainted with Honesty Box. If you're not familiar, it's a way for people to tell you whatever they think about you (good, bad or indifferent) anonymously. When it first rolled out, it was pretty popular. Now most people have the "Eff that. They better say it to my face" mentality. I think it's hilarious b/c people tend to say very crazy, no holds barred statements. I ran across this pic today and for a brief moment (1.4 seconds) got the sads. I thought these were great couples. Both had been together for years; one engaged, one married and now they're both non-existent. Makes my little piece meal 'relationships' look like child's play. Just serves as a reminder that not everything will last. My homegirl hit me with a crazy, but realistic statistic. Approximately 97% of the relationships we get in will fail. OH EM GEE. I was rearranging some things in my apartment and I came across this Voyages poetry book that my 8th grade class made (pictures via 6th grade yearbook) in 1997. L-M-F-A-O! If you can try to read this you might just pass out. Pure comedy. We were bad broads back in 97' talkin bout goin to Vegas and sneaking off to an Embassy Suites (b/c we're too fly for a roach motel). Ha! Thank God for time, maturity and hair stylists b/c we've come a looooong way. Tasha, myself (that's me in the middle) and Eve have been down since "back in el-e-men-ta-ryyyy" (c)Tupac. We used to have sleep overs, make up dance routines, write rhymes, hell - we even wrote a rough draft letter to Ricki Lake to meet Mista. [GO RICKI, GO RICKI, GO RICKI!]. We'd all try to schedule our classes together and I think one year Tasha and I had EVERY single class together except one. We even went to Europe at the same time. Eve and I bought matching butterfly shirts to dance at Mayday. Yeah, we were doing the butterfly. How clever is that sh1t?! Although we all meet new friends and have different people come in and out of our lives, it's nice to have people in your life that you can resurrect 10+ yr old memories with. It's a blessing to know there are people besides your family that truly have your back and only wish the best for you. I could go on for hours talking about the coded letters that were written, the crushes, the scheming, the EXCELS trips haha...but all in all, I am thankful for all my friends, but especially the 2 that have been around for...like...ever. On a whim I went to the thrift store today. Only like my second time going to one since I usually don't have the patience to sift. I've always been the type of person who comes up with ideas for specific things, whether it be clothing, artwork, room layouts, etc. This makes life a little difficult b/c very rarely do I find anything in stores to match the images in my head. When it comes to clothing and I do find something close enough, thousands of other people will have the same thing. That bothers me. Wearing the same dress/outfit as someone else on the same night is probably, in my opinion, a defining fail whale moment. So I got to thinking. I spend most of my money on accessories, shoes, etc and that's not going to change. My actual clothing is another story. Maybe I should join the DIY club. I've dabbled in a couple things, but haven't really done anything too seriously. I'm also one of those people that believes you can do anything if you put enough effort into it. I stopped by the fabric store today....this should be interesting. BTW, it'll be hilarious if my first creation is hideous.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A South Carolina man was charged with having sex with a horse after the animal's owner caught the act on videotape, then staked out the stable and caught him at shotgun point, authorities said Wednesday.
